<image:title>Blog - An Ode to "Failures" - We don't talk about the importance of "failures" enough. Yet, anyone who is successful now have experienced plenty of rejection and self-doubt. I often tell my career coaching clients that I keep a list of all the job rejection I've ever gotten to normalize and de-personalize it from my core identity.</image:title>
<image:caption>We are not our failures. Our failures are data that provides us with information on what our future direction can be.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - An Ode to "Failures" - I had just moved to a new city for a job that turned out to be a disappointment, so I was looking for a new challenge while I looked for another position.</image:title>
<image:caption>I did a lot of market research online and in-person; talked to small business owners in the food industry for their advice; and created a business plan and spreadsheets for budget, test recipes, and pricing. My research indicated that was a huge gap in the local food scene and certainly a customer base and appetite for organic, locally-sourced, "authentic" Chinese-style dumplings. I even pitched the idea at a business pitch competition to get feedback on my idea; I came in 5th and got a water bottle for my efforts (but no investor funding).</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - An Ode to "Failures" - Which of your "failures" have shaped your career for the better? How do you define "failure" and how do you let it impact you? These are some of the questions I explore with my career coaching clients and it usually generates self-knowledge, career insights, or more questions.</image:title>
<image:caption>If we follow the path of questions to their natural end-point, we usually will find some nuggets of gold.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About Me</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a proud generalist, with unlimited curiosity and driven by my values. Formally, I am trained in public health, psychology, and anthropology; informally, I am still in training and constantly learning from coursework, books, podcasts, films, and the grounded expertise of communities. Reciprocity is important to me, which is why I have volunteered and worked as a coach, tutor, and mentor for the past decade with a range of clients. To learn more, here is my abbreviated resumé and my LinkedIn.</image:caption>

<image:title>About Me - I work on the unceded territories the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations who continue to be in relationship with this land. Active displacement continues to this day in our institutions and neighbourhoods; in spite of this, Indigenous sovereignty, resurgence, and revitalization is strong here — vibrant and thriving.</image:title>
<image:caption>As an immigrant settler to Turtle Island, I have benefited personally and professionally from the historical and on-going displacement of Indigenous peoples from their home territories where I grew up and received my training, including the Blackfoot, Nakota, Cree, Kanien'kehá:ka, Algonquin Anishnaabeg, Inuit, and the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples. Miigwech, qujannamik, hay’sxw’qa for all that you have taught me. (I took this photo on the territory of the Pacheedaht First Nation while hiking to Sombrio Beach)</image:caption>
